Staff return to work at Siamsa Tíre this week with thanks to funding supports from the Arts Council Ireland and the Department of Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht. The team will be making adjustments to the building to ensure that the venue can safely welcome visitors next month under Fáilte Ireland’s COVID Safety Charter. An Autumn programme of events and exhibitions will be announced in the coming weeks. The company is also commencing a strategic review process to plan for its future in the wake of the pandemic. In order to complete all of this activity, Siamsa Tíre will be recruiting to fill a number of part-time positions. To inform the strategic review, Siamsa Tíre will be reaching out to all customers and stakeholders for their input in a series of surveys to develop a sustainable future for Siamsa Tíre and the creative communities that it promotes in Kerry.
In order to meet the requirements for effective COVID measures and strategically developing the organisation, Siamsa Tíre will be recruiting the following part-time positions: Box Office and Events Assistant (x3), Gallery Exhibitions Co-ordinator, Creative Learning Assistant, Archive Assistant, Marketing Assistant and Cleaners. Róisín McGarr, Executive Director comments, “These are very difficult times for everyone and our sector has been particularly impacted by the public health restrictions that have been necessary to curb the spread of the virus. We are incredibly grateful to the Arts Council and the Department of Media, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Sport and the Gaeltacht for all the work that they are doing for the sector and for their continued investment and their recognition of the value of Siamsa Tíre for the arts in Kerry and nationally. We have a lot of work to do by the end of this year to adjust to the new reality, but we are thrilled to be able to return and plan for a re-opening.”

The past few months have driven home the deep need that we all share to gather together and let our souls catch up with us. The arts and culture give us the spaces to do that, even if only as a brief escape from the bad news cycle. We’ll be working hard to ensure people can safely enjoy cultural events in the comfort that they have become accustomed to at Siamsa Tíre.”
Staff will combine working in the office and working from home in line with COVID regulations and the Box Office and Gallery will reopen to the public once the COVID measures have been completed.
