If you are a parent or guardian of a school leaver next Wednesday 1st March is a date for your diary. Kerry’s largest provider of full-time further education courses, Kerry College of Further Education, Tralee, is hosting an event that is aimed at informing parents of options available to school leavers outside of CAO.
Parents are often involved in the decision making process. With this in mind the college decided to provide an Information Evening specifically geared towards educating parents about the further education sector. The focus will be on how the courses at KCFE allow school leavers to access high point third level courses at various Universities and Institutes of Technology throughout the country. Aswell as that parents will be given all the information they need on the extensive range of quality assured courses which qualify students to go directly into employment afterwards which is the goal of many school leavers. Guidance Counsellors around the county have been contacted via the Kerry Branch of IGC and informed of the event. It is important that parents know that their child’s future doesn’t depend wholly on the Leaving Cert. There are other ways for their son/daughter to get to where they want to be. The event takes place on Wednesday 1st March. The first talk will commence at 5.30pm sharp. Alternatively, parents can opt to attend the 7pm talk. There will also be an Open Day held in the college the following day.
