The Kerry Hospice Foundation is calling on the public to support Hospice Sunflower Days, which returns for its 35th year on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th June 2025. Funds raised will support vital palliative care services across Kerry, including a planned €6 million five-bed extension starting this June.
Ambassadors Miriam O’Callaghan and Jenny McCarthy officially launched this year’s campaign, encouraging the public to donate either in-person at local street collections or online throughout June at www.sunflowerdays.ie.
Every euro raised in Kerry stays in Kerry, directly supporting the local hospice and specialist palliative homecare services. These services offer free care to those living with life-limiting illnesses and also support their families through difficult times.
Jack Shanahan, Chairperson of Kerry Hospice Fundraising, stressed the importance of local support: “We depend on public generosity to continue our essential work. Every donation makes a real difference to people in our community.”
Ambassador Miriam O’Callaghan added: “I’ve seen firsthand the incredible care provided by hospice services. With over €20 million needed annually nationwide, campaigns like Sunflower Days are critical.”
Kerry Hospice urges everyone to donate, either to volunteers on the streets of Kerry on June 6th or 7th, or online throughout the month. Your contribution helps ensure no family faces illness or loss without the support they need.
