Cara Credit Union joined more than 68,800 credit unions around the world to celebrate the 70th annual International Credit Union Day on Thursday 18th of October. As the Irish credit union movement celebrates 60 years in Ireland, Cara Credit Union continued to celebrate their 50th anniversary serving the financial needs of its members throughout Tralee, Castleisland and Killorglin. Des Horan from Cloonmore Tralee became the 41st members car draw winner to drive away with a brand new Kia Stonic in their members car draw. Marie Healy (wife of the late Lauri Healy) and Mary O’Brien retired board of director and friend to Lauri helped officially opened this round of the Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards. Cara Credit Union are now accepting applications from groups looking for funding towards a community project located within Tralee, Castleisland, Killorglin and surrounding areas. Application forms are available to download on their website or in any of their three offices. Closing date for receipt of applications is 30th November 2018. A presentation was also made to Mary O’Brien who served on as a board of director for nearly 20 years who celebrated her 90th Birthday last weekend. In addition, there were €50 on the hour, every hour, random acts of friendship to members of the public in Tralee, Castleisland and Killorglin and lots of cake.
Speaking to Pa Laide, CEO of Cara Credit Union “ Cara Credit Union shares a common goal to offer access to affordable credit and loans to the local communities in Tralee, Castleisland and Killorglin. In turn we are rewarded with very loyal members. This loyalty allows us to give back to our local community and we are delighted to open applications for the next round of the Lauri Healy Community Sponsorship Awards. The celebration today follows on from the announcement yesterday that Credit unions have been voted Number One for Customer Experience in the 2018 CXi Ireland Customer Experience Report, taking the award for the fourth year running. This is no surprise as we put our members at the heart of everything we do.”
