Tourism Ireland in Germany kicked off its 2019 programme of promotions at CMT (holiday exhibition) in Stuttgart this week. Tourism Ireland is joined at CMT by 14 tourism businesses – including Kerry County Council – from the island of Ireland and Germany.
CMT is one of the biggest travel fairs in Germany, attracting more than 265,000 visitors – or potential holidaymakers for Ireland – looking for ideas and suggestions for their next holiday. CMT also attracts leading tour operators and travel agents, as well as around 1,500 travel journalists, during the nine-day event.
Zoë Redmond, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe, said: “CMT in Stuttgart is our first travel fair of the year, providing an excellent opportunity to spread the word about the many great things to see and do in Kerry and to encourage German travellers to put Ireland on their holiday ‘wish-list’ for 2019.”

Zoë Redmond continued: “2018 was the eighth consecutive year of growth for German visitor numbers to the island of Ireland, when we welcomed around 780,000 German visitors. Tourism Ireland will roll out an extensive and targeted programme of activity throughout 2019 – to keep the momentum going and build on that growth.”

Last month, Tourism Ireland launched its new global campaign, ‘Fill Your Heart with Ireland’. Ads for Ireland have been running in German cinemas during December and on TV during January – reaching millions of viewers.
Promoting the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland’s Ancient East, Dublin, Belfast and the Causeway Coastal Route will continue to be a major focus of Tourism Ireland’s activity in Germany, and elsewhere around the world, in 2019. The organisation will also continue to highlight ease of access from Germany to the island of Ireland.
